Balanced reporting please, include the grid response to unwanted delivery.

@G7J2O do you see the ‘could’ in the URL? You said and I quote ‘Will be able to supply 100% of the energy grid in a few years’. That is not what the article says.
I would be very happy to have renewable power, what I don’t like is definitive statements on a maybe.
By the way ISEP is specifically a promoter of sustainability, not an impartial reporter.
Maybe check your sources and look for corroboration before making definitive statements.

That is only half the picture. Without accounting for the cost and life expectancy of wind turbine. The joke in my country is the wind turbine farms were paid for with a tax on coal natural gas and other power sources. Nuclear power plants in our country. Are the most efficient source of power
And cheapest. Have you ever looked at the cost of the oil for lubrication on a wind turbine?
Don't forget how often it needs to be changed out. I'm not saying wind is not a good source of energy, but it is an expensive source.
The cost of a wind turbine varies greatly by size, with commercial onshore turbines costing between $2.5 to $4 million, while small home turbines can range from $3,000 to $80,000. The average lifespan of a wind turbine is about 20 to 25 years, though this can be extended with proper maintenance, and many are now expected to last up to 30 years with modern upgrades.
Cost
Commercial Onshore: $2.5 to $4 million
Small Home: $3,000 to $80,000
Micro Home: $500 to $4,000
Offshore: $20 to over $100 million
Now you are talking about one day of production not how much production on a average day throughout the year. High winds are actually bad they have to turn them off during high winds or it will tear them up.

Here's the thing about nuclear power. It is slow, expensive, and prone to budget disasters, while modern wind is cheaper per MWh, goes up fast, and starts producing clean power years, if not decades, before a reactor breaks ground. Oil changes on turbines? sure, but nuclear has its own endless parade of maintenance, fuel, and decommissioning costs that nobody mentions. Claiming nuclear is the cheapest is just ignoring reality and cherry-picking numbers to fit a story.
And this is before we even mention solar...

im all for solar panels and harnessing wind on home or large buildings. against thousands of square miles of land being saturated with them as is happening in some places like american midwest and deserts. it means more poles, cable, infrastructure, storm damage, maintenance etc

What's the average they generate ?
How reliable is the wind ?
What's the cost to built/ maintain them ?
What do you do with the old blades when they are replaced ?
How many birds of prey are killed by them ?
How long would it take to install enough units to match the output of a nuclear plant ? That's the proper comparison.

@pdockal I know it's a wide range but the Audubon Society estimates that wild and domestic house cats kill between 1.3 and 4 billion birds per year just in the US. I've seen other estimates in the 3-4 billion range.

Didn't know that domestic cats killed birds of prey ... unless you don't understand what a bird of prey is
Cats killing birds or birds killing cats is the natural order ... so your point is irrelevant
My whole point is that aren't as green as proponents want your to believe

@G7J2O so you are quick to say NO and WRONG to other posters, but don’t actually have the grace to admit your own mistakes.
You cite one article by a renewable promoter and then use it incorrectly to support a 100% position that is at best a 50/50 between now and 2035 according to impartial reporters, some of who have set it even lower.
Are you reposting someone else? If you are do you simply accept that verbatim?

Dont worry about it..Worry about the share prices for the gas and Nuclear plants. And those coal mines...Think of all those poor shareholders having to drive last years Porsche...😷
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
You know what else you won't see from the MSM on this?
How the grid in Europe almost collapsed this past spring because they had TOO many renewables in their grid and there was no "float" in the electric current. The whole thing almost collapsed, they barely shut it down in time.

@SumKindaMunster So, in other words, you were talking about the Spain-Portugal power outages.

The energy market is a corrupt cabal controlled by the big energy providers.
Nothing wrong in making energy production 'greener', but it has to be sustainable and it has to benefit the people in the country of production.
Not just the investors nor conglomerates that sharehold it.
Otherwise it's a waste of time

be happy you dont live next door or a bird. how long is the blade life?? can they be recycled??[
G7J2O · 36-40, MNew
@lpthehermit Buildings, cars, and above all, cats, kill far, FAR more birds than wind turbines ever do.
Blades last more than 10 years, and yes, they can be recycled, as can the turbines themselves.
And I know I'd rather live next door to windmills than this...

FYI, MAGAs in the US don't know how to go a simple google search. The represented 43.6% of Great Britain’s electricity on November 11

But…but…but…
Demented Donnie claims that Wind mills cause CANCER—think of all those cancers the Brits will have to deal with! Thank God they have socialized medicine and not the mess tRUMP, RFK, Jr, and all those MAGA Congressmen & Senators created!
