It won’t be much longer
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Aidankenny23 but even that takes time. Sadly

@Picklebobble2 it will take time. But I’m hopeful the incoming labour government will serve at least two terms

@sunriselover it's the oddballs on the Conservative fringe that worry me.

David Cameron is behind the thought of having a system where if you have had a job that is physical work you can apply early for your state pension, but perhaps get a slightly less amount. I have not heard anything since though, this was on 15th April 2024 in the Express newspaper.

What are you basing this claim on, @sunriselover? Perhaps your blinkers didn't allow you to see a global pandemic?

@sunriselover The latest ONS figures (for example) don't bear out what you are claiming - but do indicate a fall in life expectancy covering the period of the pandemic. As someone who studied Statistics (and Social Policy & Social Administration) as part of my Sociology degree, I was taught to go beyond Politics and evaluate a body of empirical knowledge not unproven observations.

@ArtieKat You are familiar with Zygmund Bauman’s work then.
I’ve got a bit of paper from Oxford somewhere. It does not prove anything.

@sunriselover I'm not familiar with his work to be honest. But as he died half way through the decade you are referring to I can't see the relevance. I'm not actually disagreeing that there is an underclass but you are failing to convince me that this is purely due to one political party's policies.
