Do you have actual information, or are you just speculating to give yourself something to post about?
cycleman · 61-69, M
@JenniferLatex it's confusing!
JenniferLatex · 51-55
@cycleman I don't think so
cycleman · 61-69, M
@JenniferLatex for me I see hypocrisy, thus the confusion

Doomflower · 41-45, M
No but it sure does make them look guilty of something.
This is what I always thought the Constitution’s position was, on pardons:
A pardon is an executive order granting clemency for a conviction. It may be granted "at any time" after the commission of the crime. As per Justice Department regulations, convicted persons may only apply five or more years after their sentence has been completed.However, the President's power to pardon is not restricted by any temporal constraints except that the crime must have been committed. A pardon is an expression of the President's forgiveness and ordinarily is granted in recognition of the applicant's acceptance of responsibility for the crime and established good conduct for a significant period of time after conviction or completion of sentence. It does not signify innocence.

@bijouxbroussard Helpful, thanks.
Ynotisay · M
It's just been discussed but you're exactly right. How can a pardon take place for a crime with no conviction?
That's a desperate man caught in a trap right there.
The upside? It would mean nothing for state or local crimes. They're ALL going to pay for something.
livingoutsidethebox · 36-40, M
Lol. They must have done things hence they be given pardon.
walabby · M
Well, this tells us what we already suspected, that the Trump family have been involved in criminal activity. They are CRIMINALS!

I imagine that Donny will next try to pardon himself?
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
@walabby Of course he will. 😒
@walabby Oh, he asked about that, first. Pardoning anyone else was probably an afterthought.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
@bijouxbroussard Isn't this typical for Trump? 😒
Northwest · M
Sean Hannity, during his broadcast, started softening the public, suggesting that Trump should pardon himself and his entire family, in anticipation of “phony” charges from the Democrats.

Teeing it up for the golf master.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
You actually do not - for example the Nixon scenario. Pardons can be preemptive and surprisingly open ended.
cycleman · 61-69, M
@bijouxbroussard but if NY goes after Trump, doesn't Trump have to be within NY State at the time?
@cycleman It’s not stopping them from investigating write-offs from when he did live there.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@cycleman No, you don't have to be in the state (or country) for the state to open a case or for it to proceed. And trump has a long history in NY.
Pfuzylogic · M
They did lose a “charity”.
walabby · M
I wonder if you can still be charged and taken to court for a crime that you have been pardoned for, but just found not guilty...?
What would be the point? To make public what you have done even though you can't be held accountable.
unwarranted influence and attempts at such...also to "pardon" someone in Trump-think means I AM GUILTY BUT YOU NEED TO FORGIVE ME SO I WILL FORGIVE ME INSTEAD.
lol

Hope those days are over but I have my doubts.
SW-User
He does it in advance probably. It’s just a matter of time
beckyromero · 36-40, FVIP
No.

Read the Nixon pardon by President Ford.
firefall · 61-69, M
nope you dont, but they'll have to be declared as covered under the pardon, so we will find out at least.
Bushmanoz · 61-69, M
@firefall that could make for a long day
firefall · 61-69, M
@Bushmanoz but a great week!

Melania isn't getting one ? 😱
cycleman · 61-69, M
@softspokenman Ivanka and his 2 sons
walabby · M
@softspokenman Maybe not, but then, she probably hasn't done anything illegal..?
@walabby She must be on Trumps naughty list for making come hither eyes and kissy kisses with Justin Trudeau in public 😡
They should get pardoned for being unfortunate enough to be kin to his ass
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
Let them prosecute and have the Supreme Court dismiss them. Let the absurdity of the pardon power be laid bare.
QuixoticSoul · 41-45, M
@Fukfacewillie I don't think it would even get that far. Pardoned is pardoned.
Fukfacewillie · 56-60, M
@QuixoticSoul Felt nice to say, though. 🤷‍♂️
