Nathan did not start the klan nor did he support it he spoke bad about it from day one people need to stop ruining this great man

He did not start it, but he WAS the first Grand Wizard of the KKK from 1867 to 1869. He did eventually become disillusioned and abolished the original Klan. It was founded two years earlier by six former officers of the Confederate army In Pulaski, Tennessee. Nathan Forrest was HARDLY a "great man". He was a blatant racist and a murderer. He WAS a great military leader and general, for what that's worth.

In 1865 In Pulaski, Tennessee, a group of Confederate veterans convenes to form a secret society that they christen the “Ku Klux Klan.”

Why are you asking?

Forrest’s notoriety only increased when, in 1867, he became the first grand wizard of the original Ku Klux Klan (KKK), a secret hate organization that employed terror in pursuit of its white supremacist agenda. I read alot of things about this man and they basically say the same thing, I guess some people can't handle the truth
