I hope never. That thing is supposed to be economic yet has political power? heeeeellllllll no

There’s more chance of seeing theresa may win Britains got talent for her dancing than there is of Britain rejoining the EU.
@NickiHijab tbf though nothing would surprise me anymore

I suspect Britain will leave, there'll be much animosity, the whole world will go into recession end of next year, stock markets will collapse since nobody's buying anything, folk will get laid-off worldwide and the E:U will either start kicking Ireland; Italy and the 'stragglers' out because they can't afford (either financially or politically) to keep propping them up; and at some point after that the E:U will collapse.

@AndrewtheAlu They'll have no choice if they want continued support at home.
There's already a huge stride to the right in many countries.
America isn't out to make friends and China is buying sovereign debt everywhere.
@Picklebobble2 nah. Kicking countries out will cause way too many problems, as brexit has proved. No one can go through all this again. If Italy and Ireland are really that much of a problem, they’d just be fined or something or the others would create a new organisation that didn’t include them. But tbh I doubt they’re really that much of a problem that kicking them out would have any benefit at all. Keeping Ireland gives them influence over the uk even after we leave

@AndrewtheAlu Yes. ONE country. But if the dodgy economies start going under one by one and the ECB can't stem the tide, they'll have no choice or it's going to bankrupt France and Germany to say nothing of the political suicide for the parties in charge at the time.
Apparently, the snooty and derange EU have said that once Great Britain leaves, it will not let them enter again!
@EugenieLaBorgia I heard that too. It took the UK a long time to get into the then EEC (European Economic Community) due to French objections and I think Europe may well be stiff necked about letting them back in.
@SensibleJulie It was decided nearly two years, before Britain was to vote, to leave the EU with or without a vote. Certain parties in France are exerting pressure to leave the EU.

I don't know. Just recently some of the Brexit leaders went on record saying they didn't realize how much trade the UK had with Europe.
@Xuan12 or the extent to which the Dover-Calais crossing is important 😭😆 I didn’t think Raab could actually be as bad as Davis but then again idk whether it’s physically possible to have a good Brexit secretary

@AndrewtheAlu Who ever would have thought the closest port to the continent would be so utilized? I mean, why doesn't everyone just sail all the way up to Inverness? Doi?
That depends to a large degree on whether the EU will take them back straight away.

A certain French General turned President kept Britain out of what was then called the 'Common Market' or EEC for a long time.

Which was good for Commonwealth economies because we could send them a lot of butter and dead sheep and got back oil leaking British cars.
@EugenieLaBorgia The ghost of Charles de Gaulle walks? I always give him credit for my prosperous childhood because he kept Britain out of the EEC and trading with the Commonweath countries like mine
@SensibleJulie I thought the commonwealth was excellent!
lorne13 · 61-69, M
at this rate they will never leave, because no politician wants to be associated with the economic disaster leaving would cause in Britain
@lorne13 idk actually. I reckon corbyn wants a go at it but I doubt his version would be any better. If him and other top people in labour didn’t want to leave, they would have been supporting a peoples vote by now because they’d get so much support from it and they’d actually be relevant again.

Whatever corbyn thinks though it’ll still be an economic disaster

That's a damn topic...
