I wager he could pay the fine.

I doubt that it will happen, unfortunately. When the evidence of his crimes is presented, Republicans will be forced to introduce impeachment proceedings. The problem is that once he is impeached, there will be a trial in the Senate to remove him from office. That will take 67 Senators (2/3 majority) to convict, so even if all 48 Democrats vote for conviction, at least 19 Republican Senators will need to do so as well. There was an article out earlier today saying that 12 Republican Senators have come out against Trump, so if they vote for conviction, another 7 would be needed at least. That seems like a tall order for Republicans.

If it reaches this point, Trump will be monitoring things and should he be told that he does not have the votes to remain in office, he will simply pardon himself and his family and campaign staff, declare victory, resign, and leave. He clearly has the right to pardon everyone but himself. That pardon power is unclear and would result in a constitutional crisis that would be resolved by the Supreme Court.

Once he's gone, it is unlikely that he'll be indicted in a court of law to be tried for his crimes. So as much as I would like to see him in a jumpsuit, it is unlikely to happen.

But with Trump, do we ever really know?????????
