UK drivers what would you think of a police response to your querying the legality of Parking Eye machines going blank once car reg's are

entered, sending fines saying the reg was not entered, knowing the machine gave out no proof, and the police say it is up to Parking Eye to ensure their machines are working properly?

Its hard to answer as the question doesn't quite make sense.. going blank once car reg's are ???? entering??
Do you mean entered??
I wouldn't think it was police jurisdiction.. It would be the local authority [/quote]

@Britasker OK yes so the police are correct.. You need to figure out who operates the machine.. which authority or body.. and get in touch with them. There may well be Trading standards or an ombudsman you can complain to.. Citizens Advice might be able to help.. If there are loads of complaints then there will be avenues to challenge the operator

Are the fines enforcable by law?

@Britasker If you can't prove you didn't do anythng wrong.. but often in these cases there's margin of error, they know that sometimes they get it wrong.. you could try appealing to them, explain what happened. My son had a problem like this.. we found a load of info online, I think it was from the moneysavingexpert.. and it told you how to appeal against unfair parking fines. Look online or talk to Citizen's advice bureau
