You did a great job composing this picture. The giant white blob is an area that's overexposed. I'm guessing you have the camera set to auto? There are tons of books about photography and camera settings. The key is learning to use the camera to get the picture you want. The rec department and several local schools offered photography classes where I used to live. It might be worth looking into.

A basic tip is to have the subject of your photo not be in the center of the picture, since that's boring to look at. Besides that I got nothing.

The only bad part of that picture is the huge white blob on the right. Try not to get that next time and you'll be great.
