I have a smmoth haired fox and a sort of Jack Russel and a cat. I take all 3 of them out everyday for a walk together. In the winter they sleep together they drink in the same dish and the cat , on the fox's good days, is allowed to eat in the dogs food. It didn't happen overnight, the JR arrived first as a pup, when she was 4 months the fox came, he was about 2 years old and came from the pound as he was due to be put down a couple of weeks later. 7/8 months later the kitten arrived and although I had his birth date I didn't know anything about his parents. I just couldn't find a name that suited him and was always talking about Le Petit Chat. (I have been living in France since 1968 and French is the only language spoken in the house) This just means little cat. Well the name stuck he is registered as Petit Chat. As for being a little cat that didn't last long as he is now 2 years old and weighs more than 8 kilos (1 kilo = 2.2lbs) He is bigger than the Jack Russel 1.5 kilos bigger! When I come back from the morning walk I drop the dogs off at the house and continue up to the village café with the cat. He jumps up on to his stool, always the same one, and gets stroked by his "fan club" I'm 'allowed' to stay about 20 minutes and then he starts to move about to let me know he wants to go home.

Cool story! I guess it helped that each time the new pet was little when he arrived home. But, anyway, it's fantastic to see how they get along with themselves. :-)

Aww Glad to hear about your happy animal family! I wish my cat had grown up around other animals, but she's been a loner basically her whole life. BTW she's only been living with these dogs for a year

Why people have dogs without a leash when they aren't watching out? Poor kitty.

The dogs live there and usually run in the yard since it's an enclosed area. It was my fault for thinking they'd stay out of her way.
