So sorry to hear... our pets become part of our family, and it's very difficult to put them down... sorry you had to go through this.

@Soossie Thanks for your sympathy. I do appreciate it. He was a good boy, and I'm sad to let him go. But he's not in pain, so there's comfort in that, at least.
Indeed...we do it out of love... and I'm sure they know it too..

Sorry for your loss. This was a terrific story, and so well written! I think you have the perfect mind-set towards what happened. You don't feel as sad, because thanks to you he had a full, wonderful life doing what he loved to do. I had a cat that lived to a similar age, and I've also had pets that died way to soon. I was pretty upset when I had to bring my cat to be put down, even though I knew it was the right thing to do... but as you say I wouldn't want him to suffer. I have rescue dogs now... and they're great! I would imagine before too long you will have another pet to give some loving to. Seems like what you do :)
Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

@CCMorgan Thank you! ^-^ Luckily my fiance loves cats, so he's open to the idea of getting a rescue cat. I'm looking forward to that future trip to the animal shelter.
I'm sorry for your loss. You're so lucky you had him in good health for all those 15 years!
I lost my son to cancer a month before his 8th birthday. He had his share of fights and battle wounds but he'd recover every time miraculously after painful but hopeful waiting. The day I completely lost my faith is the day I found out about his diagnosis. Then as much as he was gracefully wasting away, I was so hopeless and miserable he could sense it. If there's anything I'd do differently I'd have faith and hope that he'd get better.
Anyways, congrats on getting married. Miko is watching over you 🤗

@icewhip Oh thank you dear! He's the most adored.

Sorry about your poor cat. I lost one too recently . I know how you feel take care

@MrsBennett64 Thanks. I'm sorry to hear about your loss as well.
I am sorry about your loss. Cats need to be kept inside for their safety. This was totally preventable. Human error.

@LionessRoars Doesn't really make me feel better... thanks... But rest assured, between being a big Jackson Galaxy fan and the fact that our house isn't well suited for a pet door anyway, the next cat I adopt will be an indoor cat (besides, indoor cat= no dead birds).

Sorry to hear about your Miko. It’s always difficult when our furry companions pass away
icewhip · 31-35, F
@crystalkid Yeah, it is hard. And it'll probably be a lot harder tomorrow when it really sinks in. Still, I got to say goodbye to him this morning before work. Not everyone who loses their beloved pet gets the privilege to say goodbye.

That’s true. Of the four cats I have lost over the years, I really only got to say goodbye to one, and one other I knew it was coming, but wasn’t expecting it when it happened.@icewhip

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I can tell you loved him very much, and he had a good life with you. And congratulations on your upcoming marriage. I hope you're able to get another cat that will also bring you joy, though of course none can ever take this cat's place.
