Thank you for the replies. We do have another dog, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. She is a Border collie, Australian Cattle dog cross. That is why she has so much energy. The problem is that she will try to climb or jump any fence, wall or gate to get out.

@Maryke Cattle dog are highly intelligent, motivated working dogs. The have a running herding instinct and have to be workied or they become frustrated. You will need to adapt or you will both be unhappy, because he was bred that way..😷

That isn't uncommon. Some folks leave a TV on to keep them happy, some folks break down and rescue a buddy for their dog. Either way, work on your containment, don't want her getting hurt.

The nature of dogs is that they are pack animals the your family is the pack. They may choose to always go to the Alpha, or to be at the centre of the pack. They depends on the breed, the dog and the family dynamic...😷
