Here is a pic of Bird Island in North & South Carolina. My hometown, Sunset Beach, North Carolina is in the distance. I was standing about 300 meters into South Carolina looking toward North Carolina when I took this pic. You can see my shadow on the top of the dunes' shadow if you look closely.
