The genius of both sides of the agreement is Trump and his opponents (every leader in NATO) declare they won the negotiations. With the US putting protective systems (that also protect Canada) in Greenland without Denmark trying to shake US down for more money and NATO keeps the US armed forces and MONEY in Europe to defend against Russia at the eastern FRONT (not flank).

As to the precious resources, the big companies are hesitant to spend capital on moving expensive equipment and personnel to get those resources because the risk vs reward of FINDING and extracting those resources greatly favor failure money wise considering the great cost.
