Terrible things are happening outside.
At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes. Families are torn apart. Men, women, and children are being separated. Children come home from school and to find that their parents have disappeared.

Anne Frank wrote that in her Wed Jan 13 1943 diary entry when her people were suddenly declared "illegal" by a new government.
Kinda like when tRump revoked refugee status and temporary protected status on hundreds of thousands of people. Those refugees and TPS people entered the US legally under the 8 U.S.C. § 1158 Asylum laws. They did NOT commit the crime of illegal entry.
And then tRump's government declared them illegal. And started grabbing them off the street; no Miranda rights, no phone call; just shipping them across state borders too fast for due process to keep up. And some are moved across national borders to concentration camps. Just like Anne Frank & her family. And just like two of my great grandparents who later perished in a concentration camp in 1943.
tRump and his brownshirts (when they're not trying to start a Reichstag fire in Portland) are doing that now, in 2025, in America. And reich-wingers are cheering them on.
