I Love to Hike In the Woods

Yosemite Dreams... Every year in summer, my family, my grandparents, and I would go to Yosemite National Park, and in the later years, also to Mammoth, especially when it became more costly to stay in the valley, and just hike for about a week a bunch of the trails in that area.

And for people who've never been hiking, you should; it's really a sublime experience.

It's just nature, beautiful nature and you (and music too, if you're like me). It's everything I love. Serene views for inspiration, quiet me-time for introspection, and rockin' music for the trip. There's nothing like reaching the top of the mountain, out of breath and staring down at wonderful nature below, or getting through the clearing to find a solitary lake or river or waterfall, to behold and admire.

I haven't gone the past two years though. Which saddens me a bit. I've taken classes in the summers, and this year, I'll most likely (well, hopefully) have an internship in New York. Don't get me wrong, I love the big cities, but I've lived in one or another all my life, and it's nice to get away from it all, if only for a week in the summer. To see eons of growth and erosion and not something man-made. Something that takes my breath away, and lets me see that there still is some beauty, some naturalism, something beyond skyscrapers and factories.

I was thinking of going to the zoo this weekend. It was finally opened again, as it's warmed up these past few days, but I was bogged down by work. I love the zoo too. I always love the anteaters, for some reason. They're my favorites.
