I like that as much of a tried-and-true Mekons fanboy as I am there are still lots of songs I ain't know about.
And now this is not one of 'em.
Fun fact:once time the band were beering down after an outdoor show in the park and I went over and snagged some pretzels and asked 'em to sign my flier and John Langford drew a little skull n' crossbones and Sally Timms wrote a heart with an arrow through it and I skipped away like a thirteen-year-old going"I think she LIKES me!" She had a sundress with tiny flowers across it and kickass boots in a cowgirl style. I may have complimented her on them boots. It's often a good icebreaker to commend a lady on sensible yet stylish footwear,in my experience.

@dubkebab I feel like I can picture the whole scene you just described perfectly. I’m imagining GG park(my assumption) in music festival from and it’s definitely a great place to watch music events even if you aren’t experienced in the music that’s being performed by a band which you might never have heard of.
I imagine that you rarely hear of a band for which you have not at least some sort of previous experience with.
I’m sure that it must’ve been a fun and exciting experience to have words with The Mekons members. And to get a personalized souvenir and memorable exchanges with them as well.
I know from personal experience that it has been very interesting to talk with musicians especially at a show. I have had the fortunate opportunity of running into one of the members of Rancid on the streets of San Francisco. I was catching a bus to get my car from a local mechanic’s shop and I saw a very fancy and current (I assumed because it didn’t look like anything else I’d ever seen) Mercedes Benz sedan from which a heavily tattooed and blatantly obvious punk-styled individual stepped out of. I was familiar with Rancid as I had a few of their albums and I had a few older friends who would tell of their high school parties being played by Rancid (which must’ve been awesome). I crossed the street to saw hello and he was very friendly and shook my hand as I felt the semi-familiar California-star-struck experience begin which is that kind of intimate interaction where you remain very calm and relaxed and try remember that they’er also just another human being too. I think he was going into a tattoo studio but I really don’t recall because it was 18+ years ago. I just remember that it was an interesting 2 minute exchange at most and then he went on with his day as did I. I have seen a few famous people on the freeway in California and they have walked into a few of the businesses that I was employed by. The one underlying tenet was always to treat people like people and make conversation but be respectful of them and their time most of all.
I think this is probably more than just a California thing but I don’t really have any experience with it in New York or anywhere else.
I hope you’re doing well and enjoying the music you hear because life is too short to go through it without a good soundtrack. Yours I imagine is exceptionally diverse and interesting. Always enjoy your insights and observations and responses to anything I post. Thank you for sharing again. ☺😊
