I saw The McCoys open for the Rolling Stones in 1966 and they were very good. Sadly, they opened a 20-minute set with "Hang On, Sloopy" and also closed with it.
@hunkalove: Oh really? That song was a theme song in 1965 (Wikipedia). It was huge....but I am sure there were others that were good.

@inquisitive1407: The band I was in at the time had to do "Hang On, Sloopy" several times every gig. The McCoys also did a killer version of The Beatles' "Drive My Car". The Stones only did about 30 minutes, but they were mind-boggling. Brian Jones was still with them but it was so obviously Keith Richards' band onstage, not Mick Jagger's.
