What's your favorite unconventional non-percussive musical instrument?

Don't say mayonnaise or horseradish or any other condiment, because that'd be classified as percussive. Anyone can bang two sticks together and call it music. I'm more talking about an instrument that can play an actual note. Can be electronic (but not completely a digital DAW/vst).

I think my favorite is maybe a hurdy gurdy? Those things are so interesting. Theremin + Tesla Coil is also really interesting (no, Edison did not invent the Theremin... Theremin did, and like 99% of the things attributed to him, he didn't invent it at all... goddamn thief)

I'm going to build a sstc tesla coil and have it play music (I have the skills to do so) but I don't have access to a theremin... could build one, it's mostly just a rod and some capacitors, but eh.

@pagandad Oh another one I really like is the saw instrument. It's really, really weird, and it's used in a lot of Amiina music. I don't think you can cut anything with it though lol.

One thing I like doing is the weird sound made by shaking semi rigid plastic. It makes such a satisfying sound.

@pagandad Oh wow lol, yeah something of that length could be played. I'd be too scared of that snapping back at me lol. I'd have to just get a long piece of metal. I'd love to do that though... I love weird instruments.

@pagandad Is it 'jews harp' or 'juice harp', since it's played with the mouth, and saliva is 'juice'?

@SW-User I hear Jaw and Jew used interchangeably on YouTube

Sounds like the stereotypical boing boing in Australian music.

@TetrisGuy Oh yeah, Jaw harp, heard that a few times.
