I confess I had never been aware of the existence of Mariska Hargitay until this moment. And I expect that by tomorrow I will have forgotten her. I also confess that I never watched Melrose Place. Or any of those "incredibly beautiful young people with nothing to do but hang out" shows. I'm not casting any aspersions on those who did choose that form of entertainment; it just wasn't my choice.
