One of my favorites was in a bureaucracy in PA, the Dept of Welfare, where I was a caseworker. The state decided to begin allowing the submission of benefit applications online. We’re talking LOTS of applications, each roughly twenty pages.
Of course, each was printed out, only one-sided printing. The file cabinets were over-flowing. I told my supervisor one day that we could save a lot of file space, paper and trees, if we moved that little button on what everybody still called the copy machine, the one that was labeled “two-sided”. He scoffed. “Who wants to stand by a copier turning paper over to print the other side?” I explained that wasn’t necessary, that the printer would feed it back through. He denied this was possible. I invited him to come stand by the printer to see the impossible. After a demonstration, he looked at me like I had just discovered how to make fire. For a day or so he actually looked mildly motivated.
At the next “manager’s meeting,” he shared my suggestion. Some other person said, “who wants to stand by a copier turning over paper…”
Everybody in the room scoffed and never talked about it again.

@Mamapolo2016 Some people can be so ridiculous! It’s amazing how many people think it’s easier to do everything the harder way instead of briefly paying attention to do it the easier way that saves time!
