If their dad would have worn a rubber they probably wouldn't have known the difference.

I've been affected by abortion. Nothing so dark had ever happened to me. I was clinically depressed. I know it's not all about me, but like you say, taking a life because it's inconvenient is just diabolical... And affects the whole family, not to mention the very life of the developing child inside the woman. If you don't want another human in your life, don't have sex or use protection. It's just fucking pompous and smug when people say "Oh nooo but in the throws of passion blah blah." No one is so inebriated by lust that they can't say, "wait, let's use a condom."

And the whole "Its a mass of cells, not a life," Please tell me of one living thing that isn't a mass of cells.

@DLight They're misguided I think. The next thing someone might say to you is that defective babies are why abortion should be legal. Personally I make exception for that. It's not a good reason why abortion should legal an accessible across the board but I can understand both sides of the argument in the case of a severely disabled individual.

Thankyou for Best Comment.
@H1raeth Yes, the "defective" ones. Because apparently a perfect person in their view is an atheist who supports unrestricted abortion. 🤣

Isn't it the case now in Iceland that if a child has Down's Syndrome the government over there compels the woman to abort?
H1raeth · 41-45, M
@DLight I had a quick Google. Apparently it's legal over there, to terminate a baby with down syndrome at any time during the pregnancy. So yeah, it's kind of an encouragement.

And if my grandmother had balls, she'd be my grandfather....
@Richard65 That's a stupid comment that has nothing to do with the topic.
Richard65 · M
@DLight it's as relevant as your hypothetical nonsense.
Ontheroad · M
And do anti-abortionists ever think of the millions of unwanted children who live through the hell of being unwanted?
@TryingtoLava Gen Zed then. Whatever. And like I said before, I'm not a "boomer", I wasn't born in that (now very old) generation. I'm 33.
@DLight
@TryingtoLava Believe whatever you like. No one cares. 🥱

That’s why I’m against the death penalty .
@AthrillatheHunt I'm also against the death penalty, and the military as well of course. We should just stop killing each other!
CurrentName · 51-55, M
Hm, Never thought of it.
But now that you mention it.
And looking back at it,
I don't think I was.

No otherwise their mother would have eventually told them or someone would have said it
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
These are the mental gymnastics on the level "If my mother got together with our neighbour instead, I could have been his kid."
@CrazyMusicLover "Mental gymnastics" for someone who finds it difficult to grasp simple concepts maybe, or who struggles with plausible hypothetical scenarios.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@DLight The only one struggling here with something is you not being able to understand that nobody cares about hypothetical scenarios that haven't happened. You need one big massive ego and incredibly inflated sense of self-importance to occupy your mind with thoughts about someone hypothetically denying you your existence many years ago.

Do anti abortionists really care that much about life?
@peterlee I didn't say they had to. You're missing the point here. I believe that abortions should be rare, a last resort when there are no other options, and not the common practice it now is. Even so, it still isn't the child's fault that his or her father was (or is) a monster.
Ohplease47 · F
@DLight you support the military?
@Ohplease47 No, I don't, and I never will. Their job is to kill. No one with a conscience can support that.
peterlee · M
This is a very complex issue. A woman who is raped, or whose life is in danger, should surely be allowed that choice.

Our NHS recommended my son and daughter in law to abort. He is cleft and had hearing difficulties. The termination could have taken place up to 36 weeks.

Children in the UK now survive at 22 weeks.
One of my sons was born at 26 weeks. A good hospital.

One of my team forced her daughter to abort when she was 16. She did, and never spoke to her mother again.

The youngest mother I worked with was twelve. Her own mother rejected her. She herself was a brilliant mother and teenager.

Rarely does a man have to make this choice. When my first wife was ill in hospital, I was her legal guardian. I was faced with having to make that choice , she was mentally ill and the pregnancy was due to a boyfriend/patient. Fortunately the termination occurred naturally, and I did not have to face the dilemma.

@DLight most couples dont conceive out of love

Its mostly not love.Nary a thought to possible offspring's fate
@Ohplease47 And you know this... how?
Ohplease47 · F
@DLight yes
Bleak · 36-40, F
For me, abortion isn’t about convenience or choice—it’s about a human life that cannot speak for itself.
Bleak · 36-40, F
@MoveAlong I don’t vote for anyone, so that assumption doesn’t apply to me.
Ohplease47 · F
@Bleak so all babies conceived must be born. Right?
Bleak · 36-40, F
@Ohplease47 Yes, that’s my general belief. Every unborn child has inherent value and deserves protection.

I also recognize that there are heartbreaking situations, such as pregnancies resulting from rape or cases involving serious medical concerns ( for instance Down syndrome cases) Those are deeply personal and difficult circumstances, and I understand why people struggle with them.

But when the reason is simply financial hardship or poverty, I don’t believe ending an unborn life is the answer.
Munumbis · 46-50, M
Don't care.

@Gibbon I always get downvoted, no matter what I write about. And you're right; the ones who tend to downvote are generally incapable of accepting the fact that many people will simply not agree with their point-of-view, and will take that disagreement personally for some strange reason.
