I've spent a couple of weeks quite recently alternating between eating oats and eating nothing. It was a strange "trip".
Change your perspective a little maybe ? Think you're fasting..
Find some alternative places to get cheaper food.. you could even forage depending on the area. Or farm few veggies yourself.

Would invite you over for a rack of lamb that my neighbor gave me. Have yet to cook it. Yet soon.

That sucks. I have oatmeal in the morning but if I had to have it for lunch or dinner I would be pretty grumpy.
