I know plenty who worked hard and got very little for it. It’s all throughout history. Slaves worked extremely hard, but they had awful lives. It’s not about hard work, it’s about knowing what you want, and being smart enough to know how to get it. Some of us are not that smart.

True, but we aren't all born with unlimited options for our lives to play out either. Some luck has to be involved in some of them too. You can do the exact same thing 1 day later and it might deliver a different result.
