A six year old girl was kidnapped from our town and was held for ransom. The kidnappers were found, but, not before they blinded the poor girl in one eye with too much pepper spray. Why two adults used pepper spray on a little girl goes way beyond comprehension and 40 years later I still think about it a lot

When I was a kid in the city of Tacoma there was 2 murder cases in 1985 or 1986. One at a park about 2 blocks from my parents house and another a month or so later at another park relatively close by. The proximity of them and the instant change to everything local wise make them both unforgettable. Originally thought to be the work of one sicko. Decades later DNA showed it was 2 different freaks both arrested and in prison currently.

Peter Sutcliffe. Aka - 'The Yorkshire Ripper'.
Killed at least 13 women in Yorkshire England but is suspected of several others between 1975 and 1980.
In the UK i think it was the first time a serial killer made the news every night. (Since the Brady/Hindley child murders in the '60's)
It attracted several men to make malicious phone calls to the investigating detectives and wasted a lot of time.
But I remember it was talked about by adults at the time and worried women everywhere since, as it turned out, he was a truck driver so could have gone anywhere to do what he did.
Police interviewed this man 9 times before finally charging him.
Sentenced to 22 life sentences, he died in prison
