Unlike other religions, Islam is not named after its founder or the community of its birth.
The religion/community of the Old Testament was "Yisrael" which means something like "struggle of God". Note that Judaism is not the religion of the Old Testament, Judaism follows the Talmud. And the Old Testament describes God very similarly to how the Quran does.
