I neither need nor wish to, and do not support hunting wild animals purely for "sport" or trophies. That is a thoroughly out-dated "tradition" now seen widely as inexcusable. Un-licensed, unauthorised killing of almost all wild animal species is illegal here anyway - and you need a licence to own a gun.
I don't object to pest-control or culling, provided it's for genuine reasons and by skilled gamekeepers or marksmen.
I find the matter of shooting reared game-birds more difficult, and stay neutral on that.
Rearing cattle and poultry for food - fine. I am as omnivorous as Nature developed us but do want the animals to be kept and eventually killed, humanely. I am not a farmer but do appreciate living in a country with some of the most stringent animal-welfare and food-safety rules, and most efficient farms, in the world.
Deep-sea fishing (for food): I don't object to that as long it's sustainable. I still like fish and chips!
Whaling: NO, except for necessity but very, very few people now need to catch whales for food. Yes, whale-meat is edible but most whaling now is by one or two wealthy nations where whale-meat is popular but not necessary.

@nedkelly I think a Canadian talking to an Aussie that has nothing to do with the American political system (I'm closer geographically) has about as much to do with you talking about the American system. Yet, you don't even talk about American politics, you just need to bring up the Democrats all the time.

If I needed to eat for survival yep but then again easy to say that now but if it were real circumstances I would prob munch leaves because I love animals 😭 🍃
