With a 24/7 news cycle, the media thrives on "Anything" they deem newsworthy. (Which is just about anything) I guess it's a way to get attention in a small scale. I won't say anymore in fear of starting a brouhaha, LOL

I think when we each experience extremely painful events, we all experience the feeling of being a victim or victimized. This is fairly common. What shouldn't happen is allowing that to become your persona, which unfortunately seems to happen often for some.
CheerfullyCurious · 46-50, F
@Peaceful it can be both i would say. Depends on the circumstances. I dont think it is always a conscious choice but it could be.
Peaceful · F
@CheerfullyCurious I have yet to find that in my experiences with people barring the occasional sociopath. ✌🏼️
CheerfullyCurious · 46-50, F
@Peaceful i have experienced it with a couple of people. Once again i dont think it is intentionally. It is definitely an issue that requires attention from a professional.

hi CheerfullyCurious
Apparently Victim mentality is an acquired personality trait in which a person tends to recognize themselves as a victim of the negative actions of others, and to behave as if this were the case in the face of clear evidence of such circumstances.
I have no idea of what "and to behave as if this were the case in the face of clear evidence of such circumstances" means.
So I have no idea.
Best wishes
:)

@SW-User why do i think google and Wikipedia is not good sources? Is that your question?
SW-User
Yes an also why are u always playing the victim I thought up that question just now to ask u preety good right @CheerfullyCurious
CheerfullyCurious · 46-50, F
@SW-User Because the people that write on Google and wikepedia has not verified or has no backup for the facts. I use Wikipedia every day myself to look up something quickly but would not write a research paper with that as my sources of information unless of course you follow the links to the original source that they usually cite at the bottom of a wikepedia page.

In terms of playing the victim? Lol . You'd have to send me a private message and explain what you mean.
Abbenthewarwolf · 18-21, M
What kinda of victim are you of. Child abuse.? Or just a victim of humanity.

Victim mentality.

Interesting words. I do not think this even exists.

Being a victim is forced upon you. You do not choose to be raped...or harmed...or get in an accident etc. Therefore there is no such thing.

There is playing the victim when you truly are not.

There is pretending to be a victim.

There are also people who never come out of the trauma and to call this a "mentality" is to say that they somehow have control over how they have reacted to trauma.

I do not buy it.
CheerfullyCurious · 46-50, F
@JaggedLittlePill i did not mean to offend anyone that geniunly experienced trauma. We all are victims of something. There recently have been a publication issued by a Stanford University about victim mentality. You can look it up. Google it or check google scholar also books on Amazon you can buy about it. Several studies over many years about it also articles in Psychology Today.
