You’re on the right track however. The public suddenly could not care less about factual information. A portion of the public seems to BELIEVE whatever the opinion source that agrees with their overall mindset and another portion simply listens to the first portion and follows along Willy Nilly.

@jshm2 It seems you have a misconception about the true purpose and value of conversation or online chat. While it's true that social interaction plays a significant role in online chat, reducing it merely to "idle banter" overlooks its broader potential and benefits.

Conversations, whether online or offline, serve multiple purposes beyond just socializing. They can be a platform for sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas, building connections, fostering empathy, and even challenging our perspectives. While social conversations are essential for building relationships and maintaining connections, intellectual conversations stimulate critical thinking, broaden our understanding of the world, and can lead to personal growth.

Furthermore, the notion that engaging in intellectual conversations hinders making friends or getting invited to parties is misguided. In fact, meaningful conversations, whether social or intellectual, can enhance relationships, create deeper connections, and make interactions more enriching and fulfilling.

It's important to recognize and appreciate the diverse purposes of conversation and respect the value that both social and intellectual interactions bring to our lives.

It's elementary, Watson. We ought to embrace the richness of conversation and celebrate its ability to connect us, inspire us, and broaden our horizons, rather than trivializing its significance.

I do experience 'the yearning for intellectual engagement and genuine connection', but ....

you're right. People don't converse too much anymore.

Its a discredited skill for many reasons.
The role of government is clear, here. People understand why we have no public Internet or public discourse, and they understand how to keep the truth irrelevant.. They refuse to make sense - making sense is only going to gratify the political left and make war awkward for the global hegemon.
