Reflections of the lost soul
I was reading the Guru Granth Sahib yesterday evening, and I saw a few mentions of Allah.
I looked up Jesus and Jehovah, but there's no mentions of them.
Does this mean that Jesus and Jehovah don't exist?
No.
Does it mean that the Christian faith is a farce?
No.
The Guru Granth Sahib mentions Allah. And the Quran mentions Jesus, Abraham, Sarah etc.
One scripture refers to entities from another scripture, which in turn refers to entities from another scripture.
So there's a link.
I think my last few posts may have come as a surprise to some people.
"This guy posted verses from the Sikh scripture!"
Yes.
I can speak Punjabi.
I think I've mentioned that to a few people in the past.
I can't read Punjabi. I never learned the Gurmukhi alphabet.
Some people might say, "If you can't read Gurmukhi, you're not a real Sikh!"
And that's fine with me.
I remember visiting the Gurudwara one time, and I had short hair at the time, and this guy had been watching me and observing me with curiosity.
Later he approached me and he spoke to me in English, and I replied in Punjabi, and he was surprised.
And he said, "You cut your hair short. You can't be a real Sikh."
So there's that.
I've always refrained from telling people about my background because they wouldn't understand. And I've been judged harshly and treated differently many times because of who my parents were.
Then again, we can't choose our parents. I've talked about that in the past.
I can't go back in time and tell my father, "Hey! Don't marry this woman!"
Or I can't go back in time and tell my mother, "Hey! Don't marry this man! I don't want his genes!"
No.
I am the product of an unholy union. And I have to accept that. And live with it.
And people can judge me and frown upon me and treat me differently and be racist all they want. It wouldn't matter.
I am what I am.
There's no point in even wishing that I wasn't who I am. Because I can't roll back time.
I've met Arabs who were more friendly and accepting than Indians.
That's just been my experience.
One of the schools I went to was primarily Islamic, but with the standard regular curriculum. Most of the teachers and students were Muslim. We had prayers in the morning and afternoon.
They were very friendly and always treated me nicely, except for a few.
They knew I couldn't read Arabic. They knew I wasn't really a Muslim. They knew I didn't fast for Ramadhan or pray at the Mosque. But they always treated me kindly.
Of course other people may have different experiences.
But we can't lump all people into one group and discriminate against them.
Muslims get a lot of hate on the internet, don't they?
As soon as someone mentions they're Muslim, people tend to steer clear.
Indians get a lot of hate too.
And the special thing about Indians is, Indians hate other Indians.
And if you're half Indian, then it gets worse. There's all sorts of insults and witty remarks that you have to deal with. And they'll come from other Indians.
Christians are the kindest people that I've met.
They're just so friendly and accepting, that it's easy to bond wih them. It's easy to open up and talk to them.
And they've always treated me as one of them.
Any time I went to the church, nobody made remarks, nobody insulted me. Nobody said, "Hey! Yellow boy! What are you doing here?"
There's a lot of subtle racism in the world these days.
Sometimes people are racist but they're quiet and hush about it.
They only mention it and discuss it within their inner circles.
"I don't like Indians. I don't like Muslims. I don't like black people. I don't like Asians. I don't like Chinese people."
They don't voice it openly because they know they'll face a backlash.
I've never understood racism.
Why hate someone because of their race?
Why hate someone because of their skin color?
They didn't choose their race. They didn't choose their skin color.
They didn't choose their parents, their families, their cultures... it was all predecided.
By whom? God? Karma? Life? Nature?
But it wasn't them. They didn't choose to be born that way. They weren't given any options. They weren't asked.
How could you hate someone for something that's out of their power and control?
I've seen some posts here. "Why do people marry outside their race? Preserve your own ethnic race and culture! Marry within your own race! I'll never marry someone outside my race!"
Yep. I've seen people make such posts on here, and elsewhere on the internet.
Personally, I don't care about race.
I don't care if you're white or black or yellow or brown. I don't care if you're African, or Arab or Indian or Chinese.
If I love you, I love you.
Skin color and race doesn't even come into consideration.
I care about who you are as a person.
