People are raised by being told they are special. Media constantly hammers their brains saying how star spangled awesome they are, how lucky they are to be born in a strong economy. Finally fake pride and vagueness of character wrecks their sensibility and all they see is a narcissistic individual who takes pride in whatever he does and is very full of it.

Men of true potential, who have earned their values and skills, who have the talent to make a difference, have it in them. They are down to earth, because they have earned their way up to where they are. No amount of money can buy that sort of class. It's a thing that comes from with in. It's rare these days because majority are involved in the rat race of domination and making clowns out of themselves.
