Most of the time i find it pretty interesting, but it depends on how they challenge my views. If they say "that's stupid" then i would wonder how they could say it so carelessly. I don't really become defensive when it happens, maybe say "really? That's how i feel though, how do you feel?" But if they tell me nicely i would want to understand them, i find different views very interesting.

@anastasia200102: yes. I won't even discuss something with anyone who starts by calling others stupid or ignorant, although I may well be ignorant on certain topics, most people who use the word aren't saying you are ignorant of the facts in this case,,they are saying "you are ignorant"

They are not worth talking to.

Research. I won't argue, unless I can back up my ideas with logical reasons. If I discover I was mistaken, I go back to the person and tell what I learned and thank them for inspiring me to learn more.

@Serenitree: Somethings cannot be researched. For example someones emotional state or feelings. These are the hardest to test. The only way I can do so is by trying to understand, There is no right or wrong here.

@Hanging2: if we are discussing my OWN emotions, or feelings about something or someone, there is no grounds for anyone to challenge me. If it's theirs, I just let them spill it out. If they are talking about a third party, I opt out of the conversation. No one can tell me how to feel about anything. They can tell me why they don't feel the same, but they have no right to tell me I shouldn't feel that way.

@Serenitree: I agree that no one has the right to tell you how to feel. Well said.

With patience and reason. If I can't justify them, I shouldn't be so opinionated on them. Unfortunately, most people are ill informed and parrot foolishness from people they think they agree with

@Sunujing: I agree with this!!
Firespirit · 26-30, M
Just a tip say "I think" before saying something like that. It will let someones defenses down and it will not sound like you are stating a fact that would challenge them right off
Hanging2 · 51-55, M
@Firespirit: I tend to poke around in people to see what makes them tick. How can we grow our thought processes if we dont constantly challenge the boundaries and the premises that they are based on?
I don't bother conversating most of the time, the outcome will always end up with no change regardless of who has a more sound argument and back up

@BloodlustSona: Once the person has jumped on the moral horse then you are right. They will become deaf to everything.

If they are all pissy I am going to react badly. If they are calm, rational, and make sense in their approach I will give it some thought.

@justmerae: Good response

It really depends on how they go about it, what they are challenging, and my mood.

why...what have you heard?

I chuckle, that generally let's them know I don't really care or it aggravates them further and they just look silly.
Depends on how they do it. If they're nasty or condescending, I don't react very well.
