More times than I can count I've seen someone who is attractive on the exterior only to find out in short order that they have no substance or are just plain mean.

Vanity, superficiality, materialism, groupthink, manipulation, adherence to trends and fads and blind consumerism, intolerance and aggression to anyone for being different, among others, like personal neglect/not washing your ass or taking care of personal hygiene.
