yeah, eventually they come out and probably at the worst times too. best to face those feelings sooner than later.

Not necessarily. You could feasibly live a quiet and normal life with tons of bottled up hatred and anger towards the world or unbearable sadness. It's called compartmentalizing, and essentially what it is like is putting everything you don't want to feel in a box, and tucking it away. Most people have something bottled up. Whether it's lust or sadness or hatred.
