It’s the way it should be. They raised and cared for us. The least we can do is return the favor and be there when they need us.

In my community it's rare for an elderly person to go into any kind of care home. Taking care of them is our responsibility

It's not even a question in my house. Family takes care of family. And we are happy to do it, because any one of us would do anything for the other.

@AbbeyRhode same in my community and other anabaptist churches in fact many of the more traditional churches often build small houses on their property to be used by elderly family members
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
They took care of me for long enough, time to return the favor.

I think that should be a normal part of a caring society though society seems to have moved too far from being caring for others and too obsessive about caring for oneself, which is also a necessity but not to the point of selfishness, in my opinion.

If you have the faculties for it.
Sure.
Sure.
In today's world, the way the elderly are treated, yes the children should take care of their parents when they're out and down on their luck.

It will make life harder but in most cases we owe them.

I’d much rather them live with me than in a nursing home

Let them pay you. It’s a hell of lot cheaper than $6500 a month.

Good if you can. Better than a nursing home.
