Around friends can always be nice

It's hard for me to say any place is a good one to be in if you struggle with mental health, but an internet site where anonymity allows people to behave worse than they would in real life probably isn't beneficial to most. I'm not mentally ill, but even I question whether this site is a "good place".
IBHappy · F
Do you really think SW is the best solution to what you just read...probably not the best coping mechanism.
SW-User
@IBHappy I'm not sure everyone who has mental health issues knows what good coping mechanisms are. They can appear lost from them. Rational thought doesn't always prevail when you are trying to cope, so unsure entirely what you mean. I do personally get what you are saying
Sometimes it helps to know I am not alone. Other times this place seems to drag me down deeper

Once you trim the fat..
A little blocking here, a little muting there..

You'll find your circle!
HaHLoBravado · 36-40, M
Absolutely, I especially love the worldly aspect.
Very diverse depending on the time of day.

@HaHLoBravado I spend much of time here late at night *by now you have picked up I'm from Canada* and spend much of my time communicating with people from Asia and Australia. Without this space, I wouldn't have that splendour.
HaHLoBravado · 36-40, M
LOL!! Canada is BOSS right now!
I do the same while on duty overnight during the week. I agree,
I've made some great connections with some far out folks via inbox.
It really helps through many of my shifts and even personal-life issues.

Can't always express myself on FB the way I want when I'm low. People I know expect me to be a hurt-proof superman almost 24/7. It's my escape

Hell fucking no. I can guarantee you this place has a more negative effect than a positive effect on the mentally unstable

Double edged sword.

I would say no.
I don't consider to have the best mental health at this moment in my life.
And there are a lot of reasons why I don't feel too comfortable here, for one, you can't stop direct messages.
Yes and no. There's many supportive users here. But there's also many selfish assholes. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference
TheConstantGardener · 56-60, M
It can be, with the right people around.
SW-User
It may ironically be therapeutic.....:)
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
Probably not.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
Probably not.

Often I have found it isn't, I struggle with anxiety and depression, but I'm also a nighthawk so having a connection with people while most I know would be asleep offers some health.
Pfuzylogic · M
It is safer now that they monitor the suicide posts and suspend antagonizers.
Two years ago they started changing that around.

Not when you're feeling fragile

@SW-User same here...it's like a drug, the effect depends on how you're feeling at the time (same as everything I spose)

@SW-User Makes perfect sense. I enjoy alcohol sometimes too much and if I'm down it's a bad road to go.

@SW-User exactly!

Every mental illness is here. OCD(me), ADHD, BPD. we're pretty fucked up.
