It would be nice to think that he's trolling, but there are millions of people who believe exactly what he's saying. Not so many in the UK, but elsewhere like the USA and in some parts of Africa there are large numbers who believe in divine creation, and they deny evolution, global warming etc. So actually maybe he's serious, which is worrying since he's from my country.

@FrankietheFly it's okay that you prefer that but it's not how people work. We all have different opinions on things. If no one ever discussed anything how would we progress beyond our own perspective?

@FrankietheFly Why not just agree to disagree? Well, it's because those who believe commit themselves to 'spreading the word" because that's what the bible tells them to do. The reasons are obvious. So it can't be a two way street. Religion is predicated on "us vs. them." Every religion claims to be THE religion. So it's sort of a futile effort.

But moreover, the 'believers' often seek to implement those beliefs in to the political construct. We know there are theological nations and we know how that turns out.

In the US there's supposed to be separation between church and state. But that's CLEARLY not the case. Just look at abortion. Or, on a different level, climate change.

So yeah...I think it's an argument worth having. Now more than ever.

Personally, as an atheist, I give two shits if someone prays to a rock. As long as they're a decent person and keep their beliefs to themselves. It's when they don't, or try to implement policy, that I have a problem. And sorry but trying to understand their perspective, when I don't buy in to their premise, is a non-starter.
