Just my opinion... we all come here for a reason. And that person we present here is not the person we present at home and/or at work. It doesn't make us any less "us", but it is either an exaggerated side of us or a side that we don't get to be elsewhere.

I would love too.. I've looked into it but you get sent all over the US for jobs. I am a homebody and I have a family and kids that I wouldn't want to leave for a long period of time.

Only the bots are fake. The rest are real people. There may be liars and trolls and horrible people here, but they are all real liars and trolls and horrible people. We are here to be anonymous. As long as there is no malicious intent, what you see is as real as the people want you to see.

I don't see as the same to wear a mask or being fake. I sometimes wears a mask when I'm in avoidant mood, to save my face, or avoid question about how I am feeling, or simply because people don't deserve to have a sad face in front of them. It costs me an effort but I wear it.

Ok, I'll stop being a silly for a minute and weigh in. I was thinking about this the other day. We present different sides of ourselves to different people and when appropriate. Call it fake, wearing a mask, or adapting to a situation. Some people may get one side of me but not another, I don't think I'm being disingenuous just because I don't choose to share all of me with a particular person.

But, so what. How can it hurt us, if some stories are fiction. In some cases, I read a story that sounds so incredibly sad that I hope it's a work of fiction.

It's very boring for them, because I don't understand which the purpose is in being fake. I was said many times how many people in the net is a fake but I don't think there are so much. Ok, we don't share all of our information but this is normal. In face to face communication you don't go telling people lots of defails about you. This is something to share with close friends.
