If I would've known all that was involved I wouldn't of. Sell the house, pack everything up so people can move in immediately, rent a place cause you can't get into your new place for a month so you have to unload everything into storage and then you reload it to take and unload again. Then to top it off your Mom decides to move to be near you so less than a year later you're doing the same thing for her.

I understand. I had to move out of a 1 bedroom apt. I'd lived in for 28 years plus stuff in a storage locker inherited from my parents...into 1 room in a rooming house. I was not well at the time, in the midst of eye surgeries, in my early 70s and had NO help of any kind. It was rough. It is truly wrenching to have to part with things and memorabilia of a lifetime. Serious downsizing is one of the hardest things to do. I had a relapse of the illness I'd been fighting, and I am still recovering a year later.

The last time I moved was from a one bedroom apartment into a four bedroom house. The hardest part of it (after the renovations) was finding stuff to make it not look empty.

No it wasn't. I was glad. It was on December 2nd last year 2017.after I got adopted from my biology parents. moved 65 miles away in another city. Well actually it's not a city. It's not even a town. But a nice rural area with hardly any people at all maybe 200?. And lotsa wilderness areas wildlife and a great lake. I love it.🙂

@Abbenthewarwolf you are just a kid, so you did not have to really deal with the entire moving process. You Might have just packed up your stuff, but your parents had to deal with everything else.

I have not moved since 2000, and no intentions of moving as well

You weren't alone.

Actually it was pretty easy, hardest part was paperwork. Basically all I had was clothes as I'd been living in my office and flip houses while saving the money to buy in a nice area

Yes because I had Mother's house full of stuff and my own house full. I didn't bother with trying to sell anything I gave most of it away.

No doubt about it, moving is hell.

I rented those Uhaul containers. And the delivery/pickup driver was a damned idiot. She kept wanting to deliver the containers to my new house BEFORE the closing! I finally called Uhaul headquarters and the representative straightened it all out for me. He talked to HER boss and after that she was helpful as could be, but I still do not like her.😡
