no, should be a choice

Yes. Because if a person in the backseat is not wearing their seatbelt, but the person up front is the impact of the person in the back is enough to kill the person in the front doing the right thing. Everyone in the car should be wearing a seatbelt.
It can save lives.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 Not every transportation comes with seatbelts though. Why enforce them on cars, trucks, and vans?
Because the chances of people being killed in a car crash vs a train crash are higher. Statistics would have something to do with it maybe@SW-User

It is. There's a $500 fine for failure to wear one, and the law is rigorously enforced. Traffic fatalities have been reduced by over 70% since the law went into effect.
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
Can not see why anyone does not put one on, if saves life's and serious injuries, common sense to put one on
walabby · 61-69, M
It has been in this country since 1970. Road fatalities halved instantly..., so, yes...
helmuts and seatbelts, a law here....just trying to reduce
the carnage in an accident..
@SW-User good point cowgirl...
In Australia they have seatbelt and helmet law. My son’s friend’s dad was killed just last year riding a motorcycle. I’m not sure why they are allowed on the roads even though I love them especially the Harley Davidson@Experienced33
@SW-User Buses have other safety designs to help offset seatbelts. Some states are passing laws to put seatbelts in school buses. Look at the number of children that die in bus accidents. Three quarters of fatalities involving school buses are pedestrians. You're more at risk walking to school than riding in the bus.
I don't know why a person would go without one in the first place.

I think it should be, and it should definitely be enforced.

It is a law lol the ticket starts out $25 then just keeps going up Everytime you get caught not wearing it lol
SW-User
@rage34 But do you think it's fair to be ticketed for not wearing something that is in your vehicle?
rage34 · 36-40, M
@SW-User well I'm gonna say yes because my oldest step brother died from a car wreck not wearing one and was thrown through the windshield soo
DreamCoCreators · 36-40, M
Um yes... otherwise accidents from not using a basic provision that's simply there right next to you should not be treatable on national health services...
Tracos · 51-55, M
It is.... Eur 140 fine if you don't wear one while in a moving car
ineedadrink · 51-55, M
Yep, no question about it.
it is where i live
SW-User
Nope, you're risking your own life, that's letting people control how you live
@SW-User That´s a very narrow view. How about the passengers in the car. Children that should be protected from the stupidity of certain drivers.
SW-User
@Underconstruction that doesn't mean that it should be mandatory
@SW-User Someone has to protect the rights of those in the hands of some self entitled jerks who think they are kings of the world because they own a car.
No. It’s also a waste of a fine. $500 for it? It’s not like the money from the fines are being put to good use either.
Mysteriousliaisons · 56-60, M
Definately , thought it was ?
SW-User
@Mysteriousliaisons it is, I'm asking if you think it should be.
Mysteriousliaisons · 56-60, M
Yes it’s proven time and again they save lives 👍@SW-User
Where I live it is
