@MikefromEP Yep. It's the only way to be sure. The planet's days are numbered anyway, I don't think there's enough time for another Triassic->Neogene evolutionary cycle.
Current astronomical science puts a rough estimate of only between 50-150 million years of habitability left before Sol's gradually increasing luminosity over its lifespan cooks the Earth into sterility. Which would mean that on the lower end of that scale that's less time in the future than the KT impact, which killed the dinosaurs, is in the past. We're probably sitting pretty close to the very end of Earth's habitable period.
