And the other question as pointed out by the great Thomas Sowell, is what are thier area of expertise? Just because they are an expert in a very narrow field of endevour does not mean they are better informed in other areas.

@SpicyMilk yes but then, social dogma, funding and biasis come into play as well. And lot of scientists have egos as big as the moon and like to think because they are knowlegable in one specific area their opinions in areas they know little about should recieve the szme respect.
