I Read Tarot Cards

What is the difference between Tarot and Oracle cards? Which is best to start from? I've looked up the differences, but for some reason I just don't get it.

There are fewer oracle cards in a deck for one. They're also quite a bit newer -- I believe they're sort of a new agey invention, but I may be incorrect. They are a lot easier to read, because they're a bit vaguer and each card has fewer meanings than your average tarot card. Personally, I wouldn't worry about the ease of it. If you have much of a tendency at all towards clairvoyance/empathy, you ought to be just fine with either, so pick what feels best to you. It also depends on how you plan on reading the cards. I use the cards to jog my own intuition and insight, so the cards don't matter as much to me. I read the tarot because my father read it and taught me when I was younger. Consequently, that's what I'm most comfortable with.
Really though, pick the deck that you can feel the most connection to. If you do go with a tarot deck, and you rely more on having accurate meaning connected with the cards, using a translation similar to the one connected with the Thoth deck. It's less convoluted than other translations and feels a bit more natural, to me at least. I'm also going to go against the large majority of the tarot community and say do not use the Rider Waite tarot deck. The translations are a bit bleh, and the spreads are more confusing than effective. I also don't use the Celtic cross spread which makes me damned near a heretic :p
BUT I DIGRESS. Point is, go with what feels good to you. If you're looking for less guidance and more of an intuitive/meditative deck, anything ought to work. Do your research on each deck. Do you like the artwork? Do you feel comfortable with it? Is the size good? Can you connect to the author? Don't worry so much about ease of learning, because they all take a similar mindset and type of patience.

Oracle cards are a created marketing name for Tarot cards by a particular manufacturer.

I suggest oracle cards. They aren't as hard to learn as tarot.
