Since I was little...
I've long been a fan of chess, even though I'd never claim to be that good a player. There is no one exact way to play it; one cannot merely sit in a classroom in take notes - one has to understand chess strategy to develop even more than a little, and yet the basic rules of the game, the manner in which the pieces move, is incredibly simple. It is a game where children can beat adults, or the old beat the young, the weak beat the strong; one of the few games where - with your wits about you - everyone is on a level playing field physically.
