I just had a falling out with my closest and best friend of 38 years. It was my fault; I've apologized. But the dent in our until now perfect friendship remains. I am heartbroken. It feels like this is killing me.

The best way to resolve your issue with your friend is not to mourn the loss of the friendship but understand what you were truly arguing over.

If the time ever comes where you can resolve your problems, this will help you both to grow.

People spend far too much time running from pain and not seeing it as an opportunity to learn.

I understand I've been through the same thing. I found though a true friend doesn't turn their back on you. I was once told that the definition of a true friend is someone who's there even when you don't need them, and the first one there when you do
