I Cherish True Friendships
"Who is that?" "What do you talk to him (or her) for?" I hear this and other comments - mostly, not nice - on the people I talk to on SW.
Everybody doesn't get along with everybody else. That's what makes the world different. There can be a poster (or two or three) who others take a dislike to their personality - their reasons are their own. But I might feel differently than others do, because we share certain things, likes and dislikes, and I cherish those friendships, and will to the day I die. Of course, I come up against the trolls (everyone does) but I just block or delete or both and don't bother with them. They aren't worth my time or trouble.
There are people I meet on the street, or maybe once introduced to them. For instance, my kitchen table gave out and I needed a replacement. My one brother had one given to him that he wasn't using, so I passed the word to my other brother. The chairs I had were still sturdy, so all I needed was the table. He brought in a friend to help him dismantle the old one and assemble the newer one. The friend followed him in, and my brother started to take the table apart, when he remembered I was still standing there. "Oh - yeah. This is Andy. Andy, this is my sister." "Hi." "Hi."
It was a Saturday morning, and I had things I normally did, so I left them alone and went about my business. Andy was fast, and he was good. He was supposed to be somewhere else by noon, so they picked up the tools, and on his way out, Andy turned, smiled and said, "Nice to have met you." I responded in kind. I felt warmly toward him for an unsolicited greeting. Another friend - but another cherished one.
