No way, just the people I recognize interacting with on Q&A usually. Even then if it's "hi how R U?" I'll likely pass, or if it's something really exciting and sexy like "What's your opinion on the Chinese secretly testing EMdrive before the Americans?" I might make an exception...

No. I even respond very seldom to PMs. Actually I just respond when I am sure that I really would like it to have contact with this person.
And before responding I always check out the profile of this person COMPLETELY (groups, stories, friends, replies etc.).
