Most people are only meant to be a chapter in our life story. Very rare someone stays until the end.

It’s a two-way street… But yes, of course, it does happen. But if not forgotten, can always reach out to them. I do… Just recently I reached out to a childhood friend because I ran into his brother. However, I haven’t heard back… Yet. Another childhood friend… I consider us very close… But we only talk once a month or once every six weeks. And we see each other maybe only once or twice a year. After divorce many years ago I made a new best friend… That friendship progressed and I married her! Still best friends!

It does happen, unfortunately. In several instances for me.

Happened to most of my friendships. I think that is life unless you work extremely hard and devote a lot of time to maintaining your friendships and select good people to be friends with.
Even then sometimes people change religions, political beliefs,worldviews, get divorced or married and hanging out with them is just not the same anymore.
