They’ve been popular in Britain for about 10 yrs and of course for much longer in Portugal. Glad you’ve discovered them and enjoying them.

Ha wow these actually remind me of a South African dessert called milk tart ( melk tert) I wasn’t a fan but they are a traditional dish made with pretty much the same ingredients 😎
