Why aren't the trucks electric??
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@fernie2 Because they can’t afford to stop for 8 hours every 300-400 km.

We have had to put all of our contracts on notice that due to the excessive price of fuel, we can not honor our contracts as written. They were throwing a fit but we did have a clause stating we had to give 30 days notice if we could not honor it. We supply green cut wheat to dairies for feed and we grow sorghum and alfalfa hay. My solution was that our buyers provide the extra fuel and our prices would not have to change. They agreed and we have 5 different diesel tanks out there now. Diesel is sky high.
@TexChik Human greed is sky high as well

Well stated!! I have always advocated for improved processes that protect the environment, but the ones trying to shutdown the oil/gas industry need to pull their head out of their ass!!

Cost of grain and wheat going way up, you have to feed the animals too, in fact they eat more of this than we do.

@therighttothink50 and dairy products are rising in price

The price of chicken breast has risen from $6 for a 3 lbs bag to $11.50 for a 3 lbs bag from last year at winco

Beef is really high
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MrBrownstone I’m thinking beef will be used basically to flavor a dish…chili will be a lot more beans and less beef. A bit of sliced beef in a stir-fry or a bit in a pilaf with some veggies….that kind of thing. I started buying chuck steaks to make with veggies instead of using an entire thick chuck roast. One steak will make a meal and no leftovers but i buy it when I can get a decent price.

@cherokeepatti beef bouillon?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@MrBrownstone I was buying cans of chicken and beef stock but decided it was taking up too much room on the pantry shelves. Most bouillon cubes are loaded with MSG but found some jars of organic condensed chicken and beef bouillon paste and have been buying and using that instead and it’s good stuff. (Better Than Bouillon brand). Also having a good assortment of herbs and spices helps to flavor up dishes.

Sad, but reality. I grew up on a farm and it's a hard living.

@SW-User yeah and fat pets too, they are fed commercial pet foods with a lot of grains added to them. I don’t remember seeing many fat pets when I was growing up, our chihuahua-terrier mix was fed table scraps but he would beg with his eyes making tears come in them and my aunt would keep feeding him so he was over fed. Otherwise not many fat pets.
