Doesn't sound like a good idea to pay high rates to move money. Those apps are for family/friends emergencies really.

@RocktheHouse yes but banks will not give you the best rates usually. Some firms buy money in advance and resell it. Trick is to get the best at a fixed rate.

Wise is brilliant, I’ve used it when I was in Australia, I got a better rate too.

@Fairydust does anyone ask any question ? I guess there is a limit in fund transfers too ?
Fairydust · F
@revenant no, no questions, I have family in Australia and we’ve used it to send to each other, pay for things etc. the most sent was about £1,500.
When I was there, I’d send money to them and they’d give me the cash.
Easier way to exchange for me, in future I’d just do that.

@Fairydust thank you !

I dunno if your bank is the same but one of mine lets you transfer money for free so long as you internet bank with them, I don't so it costs an arm and a leg to do in branch, if you can still find one that's open.

@AntisocialTroll ah thanks and no I do not think we have the same banks and the currency rates are quite bad at times and those make me lose an awful lot of money.
